We have a wonderful selection of sites in and around Newport.
Pan Country Park, Pan Mill Meadows, Shide Chalk Pit, Millennium Wood and Medina Riverside Park are all within ten minutes walk of central Newport. So they are marvellous if you are visiting town and would like some peace and quiet, or if you work in Newport and are looking for a spot to eat your lunch.
Slightly out of town is Dodnor Creek and Dickson’s Copse Local Nature Reserve. This can be reached on foot on bicycle on the Cowes – Newport Cycle Track (part of the Red Squirrel Trail), or by car or bus from the Cowes – Newport Road.
The Squirrel Hide in Parkhurst Forest is an excellent place to view Squirrels. As well as entry from the main Car Park at the Forest, there is a cycle link from the Red Squirrel Trail.
For absolute peace and quiet visit Birchmore Pond. This is about an half hour walk or 15 minute cycle from Newport, but is visited by wonderful dragonflies in the summer.
We thank Newport Parish Council for their support of our Newport sites.
