Walking and Cycling
Gift to Nature sites are a wonderful starting place to visit the wider countryside.
We have produced two leaflets which contain a series of walking and cycling trails graded from ‘easy peasy’ to ‘pretty tricky’. These are from Merstone Station which has mostly flattish trails and from Blackgang Viewpoint which is understandably a bit more hilly. Both of these sites have bus stops right outside, free parking and on-site map boards.
Additionally we have a selection of four leaflets designed to encourage people to explore areas of the Island. These contain trails for varying abilities, and where possible include visits to Gift to Nature sites. So you can also enjoy the countryside and history of Newport Area, the peace of the West Wight, the bustle and history of Ryde and its surrounds, and the countryside and beaches of the Bay area.
Most can be enjoyed by mainland visitors too on a day trip. Our webpages contain details of joining from a ferry port.
