Return to the Mummies’ Caves!

Last Autumn we mentioned our plans to apply for Heritage Lottery Fund monies to ‘rediscover’ the cement kilns at Dodnor. Affectionately known as ‘the Mummies Caves’ by local children who played there many years ago, the structures have now become overgrown and the site is no longer open to the public for strong safety reasons, and because of the wildlife it now supports.
We have had a lot of positive response, and so we are holding a walk and talk around the site on Saturday 14th January. Please let us know if you want to come as we are supplying biscuits (is there no end to the excitement…). Its at 10.30 and we will meet at Vestas at the end of Stag Lane. If you are nosey, this is for you – not only will you get the chance to visit a site that isn’t generally open to the public but Vestas are hosting our talk in their fantastic atrium. And … yes there’s more, we will throw in a tour of Dodnor Creek and Dicksons Copse Local Nature Reserve. We won’t charge, but if you would like to make a donation of say £2 per person, it will be gratefully received.
Vestas have very kindly cleared a path to the kilns for us, so we won’t need to hack our way through, Indiana Jones style! Book at events@https://www.gifttonature.org.uk
