Cockleton Meadow is the former playing field and orchard of Gurnard Primary School and is owned on a long lease by Gurnard Parish Council from IW Council with access from Cockleton Lane.
The playing field site has been transformed into a wildflower meadow with beautiful views from the top of the meadow across the Solent and the “Gurnard Sunsets”. It is an open access site available for anyone to use The area where the view is best is being transformed into a picnic area for people to enjoy these views. The orchard and pond have now been cleared too.
We are working with local people and the Parish Council to form a ‘Friends of Cockleton Meadow’ group. We are looking for other volunteers to help.
